Assisting has been good to me so far. And so has my boss. A lot of baggage comes along with the word 'assistant', there's a lot more than just the lights, pocket wizards, batteries, chai-coffee, etc. I get a chance to be star struck at times, travel a bit, meet different people, carry 40 kgs of equipment on a steep hill for some days, break a filter or two, run after the kids who try to ruin a shot, obviously use much better equipment than what I could afford to right now, learn yoga, try the lights on my own when no one's looking. It is a mixed-bag of experiences and I can't love it more.
The point is, I've been shooting some behind the scenes (stills and videos) for as many shoots as I could, and they've been further edited & used by my boss as tutorial videos. It's free lessons on advanced lighting in a real life photo shoot, why wouldn't you wanna check this out?? So far, only two videos have been uploaded on youtube and I hope we continue to shoot more and more of this stuff and spread the knowledge.
These aren't edited by me, but I've promised myself that I'd befriend Final Cut Pro and do a good job with the footage.
